South East eHampshire Project

The project is a targeted campaign to promote take up and development of broadband services in South East Hampshire. There are three distinct focuses, Business, Education and Community.

Business

The advantages of broadband range from business to business services such as trading groups, marketing and publicity activity – giving companies the opportunity to market themselves to a global market place, making them more accessible and easier to do business with, ultimately reducing costs and increasing sales. The benefits broadband can bring include:-

  • supplier groupings
  • eCommerce
  • business to business
  • business to consumer
  • distance and home working
  • mobile workforce
  • faster reaction to business issues and market developments

The project has a responsibility to provide “honest broker” information to the business community and also to address issues of social cohesion and inclusion in the wider community; the “digital divide”. It will provide grants for businesses towards broadband connections, and free advice.

    Education

The project aims to promote training initiatives to allow people to improve their skills and learning levels, the overall result should be a better educated and flexible workforce able to adapt and take advantage of the modern economy.

The project aims to work with local education establishments to provide information about training courses, and where appropriate, to offer grants to encourage the take up of these courses.

    Community Inclusion

The project aims to promote and develop take up of broadband services within the voluntary sector enabling voluntary organisations to take advantage of the technologies and developments that are being made available.

It aims to ensure that the wider community is aware of the benefits that can be brought to them in terms of distance learning, skills and education development, to improve career prospects and personal development.
