Better Broadband for Rural Hampshire

Hampshire County Council, home to eHampshire, has announced the start of a countywide project to develop better broadband for rural communities across the county.

During 2010, the Economic Development Office at Hampshire County Council will be focusing on those areas which experience difficulties in obtaining broadband at acceptable speeds.  Over 85% of Hampshire is classified as rural, and fast broadband is essential to ensure the economic prosperity of these rural areas, enabling homeworking and the development of businesses in the countryside.

Hampshire County Council wishes to consult with the market to explore ways in which this situation may be improved.  At this stage, the Council is open about what may be the appropriate option to meet this challenge.

As such, Hampshire County Council is requesting proposals on how to improve broadband in the Smannel and Little London area of Hampshire (postcode SP11).  If this project is of interest to your company, please visit https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Hampshire and click the ‘Forthcoming Tenders’ button.
